Why do we develop ACTive?

Our team designs an app for the ADHD students because a lot of times they are a marginalized group in our society. According to CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder ), in United States alone there are 6 million children (9.8%) who have ever been diagnosed with ADHD, and 13.2% of students with ages 12-17 have been diagnosed with ADHD. This is a large group that has been long neglected.

ADHD is even more common in rural areas. Compared with the percentage of students that have ever diagnosed with ADHD, which is 9.5, 12.0% of the rural students have diagnosed with ADHD, and 10.7% of them still have a current diagnosis of ADHD.

Our team aims to offer an easier solution to make ADHD treatment more accessible to larger group of students, by using Behavior therapy recommended by CDC. Therefore, we design ACTive, for students with the age of 12-18, trying to male things better.
